The Priapus, or P-shot, is a safe and effective non-surgical solution to erectile dysfunction. The P-shot uses the power of platelet-rich plasma to rejuvenate and repair penile tissue.
Getting a P-shot is a quick, outpatient procedure. There’s minimal downtime, and you can return to work or other routine activities following your appointment.
What conditions can the P-shot treat?
At Center for Urology, Dr. Woods uses the P-shot to treat various men’s sexual health problems, including:
- Erectile dysfunction (ED)
- Skin-related conditions that affect the genitals
- Peyronie’s disease
You might also benefit from the P-shot if you’re unhappy with your sexual function or performance.
What happens during a P-shot appointment?
A P-shot appointment begins with a comprehensive physical exam, a discussion of your lifestyle and goals for treatment, and a review of your medical history. Dr. Woods then draws a sample of your blood and puts it into a machine called a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins at a rapid pace, separating the platelets from the rest of your blood.
Mr. Woods applies a topical numbing cream to your penis, transfers your platelets into a syringe, and administers several quick injections. Many patients report little to no pain with P-shot treatment.
The high concentration of platelets increases blood flow to your penis, repairs damaged nerves and tissue cells, and creates new neural pathways to increase sensitivity and pleasure.
Is the P-shot painful?
The P-shot is safe and usually well-tolerated. Following your injections, it’s normal to experience mild side effects for a day or two, including swelling, redness, and bruises. As your body heals, avoid having sexual intercourse for at least a couple of days. You should also avoid strenuous exercise or physically demanding activities like bending and lifting.
When will I experience results from my P-shot?
The results of the P-shot vary depending on your health history and the cause of your erectile dysfunction. Many men experience a significant improvement in their symptoms after just one shot. Other men require several P-shot injections over several months.
Be patient and follow Dr. Woods’ instructions carefully. It can take up to three or four months* to achieve your desired outcomes, but the wait is well worth it.
